Create Excitement with Fun Flyers Announcing VBS Your VBS Theme

One of the best ways to create excitement for an upcoming event, in this case your summer VBS program, is with a fun announcement. If you’re tech savy that could be a video announcing what VBS theme is coming to your church or maybe an announcement on your church’s website or facebook page. However, complicated doesn’t always mean people are going to be interested. Sometimes a simple approach can be the most effective. That is where our Western Designer Paper would be perfect for creating a flyer announcing your church is doing Yee-Haw VBS this year. With a eye catching Western themed border, it’s perfect for making a flyer that can be hung on church bulletin boards, given out after services or Sunday School classes, posted around the church and much more. Let the kids know that they’re welcome to join you on the ranch and celebrate God’s love, or even welcome them to God’s rodeo. Not only is our paper high quality but it is compatible with laser and inkject papers. You could also make it a fun project for the kids in Sunday school or religious education classes. Once the theme is announced have them design their own flyers for around the church. They could use notepads or art supplies like markers and pencils to make their own creations. There are so many possibilities!

Use Notepads to create Nametags for the Groups or Signs with Daily Lessons

While it’s fun to come together with everyone at the start and end of each VBS day, usually with fun songs and stories to tie up the day’s activities, an important part of the VBS experience is breaking up into smaller groups and going around to the different stations for the themed activites. Usually there is a group leader or two and then usually no more than 10-12 kids depending on how many are participating. So why not create a unique nametag to set the groups apart! Not only would it help the leaders keep track of their group but it also makes a great souvenir that they can keep afterward as part of their VBS memories. That is where our notepads would be a great addition to your VBS toolkit. With a variety of Western themed notepads, like our Cowboy and Cowgirl to our Horse or even our covered Wagon, you can easily assign one notepad to each group and then create name badges for them to wear each day. If you want some more variety you could even mix in some cut-out shapes like our boots or cactus.

You can even use our notepads to make creative signs to to help kids recall the daily lessons throughout their time at VBS. We realize with a weekend VBS like Yee-Haw there wouldn’t be as many daily lessons, but you could always enhance the ones you do have with other lessons such as God is strong, or God is with us. Or you could use notepads to make a signpost to put throughout your church leading each group to where the activities are going to be held, such as this way to Saddle-Up sports or mosey this way to Bible Adventures. There is so much that you could do to tie in that Western theme and enhance your VBS decorations!

Remember Fond VBS Memories for Years to Come with a Memory Book

One of the best parts of Summer for a child can be their vacation bible school experience. The fun of going to your church, hanging out with friends, and immersing yourself in the daily stories and lessons about God’s love. From the crafting projects and sports activities, to the songs and even the daily themed snacks, these can all be important memories for a child. So a fun way to tie everything together and let kids remember their time at VBS would be to create a VBS memory book. This can be done in many different ways.

One example of how you could do this would be to create a memory book and then decorate the cover in a fun way, such as with some help from our Multicultural Person Cut-Outs and our Quick and Easy Clothes Book. Our multicultural people, which come in a classroom and group friendly quantity, include many different skin tone shades making it easy to pick a person close to their own skin tone. The clothes book comes with many different patterns, including a Western themed one that can be used to dress up their person in a western themed outfit to reflect the theme. They can then personalize their person further to look like them by adding their own flair through color and embellishments. Once they have their cover decorated they can then add all of their VBS memories, such as songs they sang, crafts they did, lessons they learned and friends they made along the way! A keepsake that they can treasure for years to come!

Creating Enjoyment for Younger Kids During the VBS program

When you think of the typical VBS experience you are thinking about the program designed for elementary aged kids. But what about those that are a little younger, the preschool aged kids? After meeting with the full group for the beginning and ending programs, they usually experience a modified program. But there are some fun activities that you can do with this age group that can really add to their enjoyment of VBS. One thing you could do is teach the bible story in a unique way by making stick puppets and telling the story through a puppet theatre. Again, our person cut-outs and clothes book would be great for this. You could even decorate the theatre backdrop with notepads and cut-outs to really set the scene. This would be a fun activity that the little ones are sure to love!

Other Creative Ways to Enhance the VBS Experience

Program leaders and directors can be as creative as they want when it comes to adding finishing touches and enhancing the VBS experience for kids. Looking to add vibrant colors and unique shapes to backdrops or other decorations, simply add some cut-outs. A path of horseshoe’s along the wall leading to each activity would be a fun way to help the groups know where they need to go throughout the day. Cactus cut-outs, which come in paper or foam as do most of our cut-out shapes, can be a fun addition to really make it seem like they are in the Wild West. You could use a Western Personal Incentive Chart as a fun way to check off the differenent activities that the kids have done throughout the day. Finished up at Bible Adventures, get a fun sticker or stamp on the chart! By the end of the weekend they can have a record to show they completed everything they could at Vacation Bible School.
